April General Meeting
Electric Company
7pm Thursday April 17th
Brecksville Community Center
The Electric Company will be joining us for an evening of high voltage electric demonstrations that includes cooking hotdogs! The presentation will go over downed power lines, first responders, general safety, and some not so commonly known dangers.
**Please be aware of the parking lot construction that is going on. The entrance to the Community Center off of Community Drive is closed. All vehicles must enter via the south entrance off Rt 21/Brecksville Road.
May 14th & 17th
Search and Rescue Training
For those members who are FEMA certified we will be having a search and rescue training/exercise in May. Captain Dan Veloski of the Cleveland Metroparks will again be joining us. The training will be on Wednesday, May 14th at the Brecksville Community Center and the exercise/drill will be Saturday, May 17th in the Brecksville Reservation. If you attended the training session before the drill last year it is not mandatory that you attend the training this year. For all new FEMA graduates and those who were not involved last year we do ask you to make all efforts to attend the training session on Wednesday.
July General Meeting
Guest Speaker on Terrorism

This summer we are planning on having a general meeting with a guest speaker on Terrorism. As soon as we have the speaker/date confirmed we will be sending a message out to you all.
August – CERT Family Picnic
We would really like to have a CERT picnic this August. Please let us know if you would like to help plan this event. We are in need of members to help with these types of events. Please contact Jill Gerber jillg15@aol.com.
Brecksville Home Days/Broadview Heights Summerfest
We are in need of some members who are creative. We would like to have something special at the booths during Brecksville Home Days and the Broadview Hts. Summerfest so if you have any ideas of a game or theme please submit your suggestions to Tia Began at brecksvillet@aol.com.
Brecksville Home Days
June 20th, 21st, and 22nd
The CERT team will be having a booth at the Brecksville Home Days this year. We need volunteers to staff the booth and also to wander around the event as an ambassador for the group. If you are interested in being part of this event please contact Tia Began, by email at brecksvillet@aol.com. The shifts are scheduled in 3 hour blocks, Friday, (4-7, 7-10), Saturday and Sunday (1-4, 4-7, 7-10).
FEMA certified members are reminded to wear their ID badges.
CERT is an organization of community volunteers dedicated to assisting our community as a disaster response group when called upon by our cities leaders. Members will receive training in disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and teaches basic disaster response skills so that CERT Team Members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace when professional responders are not immediately available for help.
All residents are invited.
